Waxing and Sugaring

Waxing and Sugaring

Waxing removes the hair from the root and regrowth becomes finer and paler with time.  New developments in hot and cold wax, like strips and roll-ons make removing hair as short as 2mm easy.  Sugaring is similar to waxing, formulas are often enriched with essential oils to leave skin soft and smooth.  Any residue can easily be washed away with water.  It may take a while to develop a good ‘ripping’ technique, but it’s worth it if you want to avoid trips to the salon on holiday.

Advantages:  Smooth skin for longer depending on hair thickness (six to eight weeks).  Cold wax strips can be cut to size for the bikini line.

Drawbacks:  Not the best choice if you’re impatient, as hair has to grow to between 2mm and 5mm before waxing.  Work on your pain threshold too, you may need to go over the same area a couple of times to get stubborn hairs.  Be very careful if you have sensitive skin, bad technique can occasionally cause scarring, so wax a day or so before you are bare your flesh to allow any redness time to go down.

Tips:  Hot wax is a little less painful, remember to dust sensitive areas with talc beforehand.  Regular body-scrubs can reduce regrowth under the skin.
