Determining Your Base Colour

Knowing your true colour is essential and this means taking a good look not just at the roots, but at the ends, which will always be lighter, thanks to the sun and natural hair oxidation.  Consult the box to make sure that the colour you’ve chosen is suitable for your natural colour, there’s usually a colour guide on the side.  Always test for sensitivity before you start, at least 48 hours after the previous wash, as sebum acts as a protective barrier over the hair and scalp.  Dye clean hair, put on an old T-shirt, use the protective gloves provided and make sure you follow the instructions to the letter.  Keep an eye on time and rinse your hair until the water runs clear, before moving onto the conditioner stage.
