Her path to fame
A Miss Teen All-American Pageant winner at 14, Halle Berry got to the Miss USA and Miss World finals a few years later, and her charisma and acting talent were already starting to show. After a brief modelling career, she landed her first TV role in The Living Dolls in 1989 and starred in West Coast in 1991. In the same year, she played opposite Samuel L. Jackson in Jungle Fever. Halle won a Golden Globe in 2000, and in 2002 she became the first black actress to win an Oscar for her performance in Monster's Ball. Then came her Bond Girl role in Die Another Day opposite Pierce Brosnan, and in 2000 she took on the role of Storm in X-Men, which spurned X-Men 2 and X-Men 3. Catwoman was a flop, but she did get to wear a skin-tight catsuit and admits she did take it home to wear in bed! Halle has now branched out into music and her debut album Halle is due for release this year.    

Her  look
Halle is all glamour on the red carpet. At the 17th Carousel of Hope Ball in 2006, she dazzled in an Elie Saab creation and proved she's right up there with the top models when it comes to dressing for big occasions. In a sexy, spangly asymmetric top and glittering mini from Saab's spring/summer 2007 collection, Halle looked the business.  

Her beauty secrets
Natural is what it's all about for Halle. She doesn't often wear much make-up, and she keeps it light, focusing on her eyes more than anything else to add depth and sparkle to her appearance.
