Madonna is a global superstar, known first and foremost for her long-running music career. The ultimate Queen of Pop, Madonna continues to court controversy wherever she goes. Throughout her career, she's broken records, boundaries, re-invented herself constantly, written a sex guide, had kids, adopted from Malawi, and she's never failed to shock. Everyone's always talking about her and she's a huge fashion icon. She may be nearly 50, but Madge was voted the biggest artist of 2006 and her Confessions tour was the most lucrative tour by a female artist in 2006.

Madonna has been a fashion icon ever since she first started out, and designers love to dress her: something about her fiery temperament brings their creations to life. She once modelled for Jean-Paul Gaultier and currently has a range at H&M. Her looks change with the wind and she constantly re-invents herself, going from fashionable to extravant to daring to original and back again. She changes her style for every album: it was back to the 80s for her recent Confessions on a Dancefloor, all leotards, sequins, disco balls and spangles. Who knows what she'll do next...
