Born in Shoreham in Kent on 28th September 1968, Naomi moved around England and Wales with her mother until they relocated to Australia when Naomi was 14. It was there that she went to acting school and met best friend Nicole Kidman. She made her debut in the romantic comedy For Love Alone in 1986.

It wasn't until 2001 that Naomi hit the big time in David Lynch's Muholland Drive. She started landing roles in box-office hits, from horror flick The Ring to drama 21 Grams.

Naomi enjoyed her biggest commercial success to date in 2005 whe she starred in King Kong under  Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson.    

She and that other famous Aussie beauty Nicole Kidman have been best friends for years. They're often seen out shopping together, and they even lived together after Nicole's split from Tom Cruise. They're also co-starring in sexy thriller Need later this year, in which Naomi plays a psychiatrist and Nicole plays an instable patient who runs away with Nicole's husband!  

Naomi has been in a relationship with her Painted Veil co-star Liev Schreiber since 2003 (he plays Charlie, with whom she has an affair!). Naomi is also preparing for a totally new role in the near future: Liev recently announced they're expecting their first baby together. When Naomi appeared at the Oscars with a rounded tum showing through her stunning lemon yellow dress, her pregnancy was obvious to one and all - and judging from the way she glowed on the red carpet, it certainly looks as if pregnancy suits her.
