You also get to sing in Spider-Man 3. Did you have singing lessons?
I'd already had singing lessons for Marie-Antoinette, because I had to learn how to sing in French, and so I learned then. For Spiderman I took lessons to learn how to breathe properly when I was singing.
Would you ever do Broadway?
(Laughs) No way, I could never sing live in front of a crowd! Even for a part I don't think I could do a Broadway scene.
You had to learn the twist as well, right?
Yeah, it was awesome! It was such a laugh. I had to go to Culver City (in Los Angeles) to learn how to do the twist, which was a surprise - I was like, "You've brought me all this way just to learn how to dance the twist?" I thought it was going to be so easy...Thankfully I had a pro teach me, which was great because I learned lots of things and it was really good fun.
What's your best memory of filming Spider-Man?
You really want to know? OK, well Tobey (Maguire) had a chef on set, and because Tobey had to lose weight for the part I got to eat all the good stuff his chef cooked up! It might seem a bit boring, but believe me: when you're filming a difficult scene, what goes on off set is really important too!
