Catherine's path to stardom

With her stunning mix of Welsh and exotic beauty and model figure, Catherine has always stood out from the crowd. Born plain Catherine Jones in 1969 in Swansea, she added her grandmother's name Zeta later on. Growing up in Wales, Catherine's first loves were singing and dancing, but as she reached her teens she began to shift towards acting.

Catherine was just 18 when French director Philippe de Broca spotted her and cast her in the lead role in 1001 Nights (1990). After this, her first feature film, she was cast as Mariette in The Darling Buds of May and played several supporting roles as well as TV parts.  

In 1998, Catherine caught the eye of a certain Steven Spielberg in the mini-series Titanic, and he suggested her for the role of Helena, Zorro's daughter in Martin Campbell's The Mask of Zorro. Catherine won critical and public acclaim for her first big role alongside Hollywood heavyweights Antonio Banderas and Anthony Hopkins, and her career went into orbit.

She appeared in a series of blockbusters such as Entrapment, alongside Sean Connery, in the all-star Ocean’s Twelve, and in Traffic alongside her husband Michael Douglas. She then went back to singing and dancing for the hugely-successful film adaptation of Chicago. Her other credits include The Haunting, High Fidelity and America's Sweethearts.
 
Catherine has also appeared in Alpha Romeo and T-Mobile ads, and she's also the face of Elizabeth Arden. In March 2007, Catherine announced she's going to launch her own cosmetics line. 

Catherine and her actor husband Michael Douglas have one of the most glamorous and romantic marriages in Hollywood. They tied the knot in 2000 and have two children, Dylan Michael and Carys Zeta.
