Scarlett has somewhat cultivated her image as a man-eater, going as far as to say: "I don’t think human beings are monogamous creatures by nature...and it's even more difficult for actors!" She says she's "open-minded" about sex, but doesn't sleep around.
Scarlett caused controversy when she revealed she gets tested for AIDS twice a year because it's "responsible." She's slammed George Bush's anti-abortion policies and spoken out about the importance of being socially responsible and aware about sex. Scarlett publicly supports Barack Obama, and spoke for the Democrat canditate at a meeting in Iowa. She recently joked to a journalist: "My heart belongs to Barack, and that is who I am currently engaged to."
Scarlett's been linked to a host of hunks including Jared Leto, Benicio Del Toro and Justin Timberlake, and had a two-year relationship with her Black Dahlia co-star Josh Hartnett, which ended in late 2006. She's been dating little-known 31-year-old Canadian actor Ryan Reynolds (best known as Alanis Morissette's ex-fiancé) for less than a year, and the happy couple recently announced their engagement. Scarlett's rep Marcel Pariseau confirmed: "They are both thrilled." Scarlett showed off a diamond engagement ring at the Costume Institute Gala in New York in early May. The couple have yet to set a date for their nuptials.
The engagement came as a surprise to many, after the young lady previously said she was in no hurry to tie the knot. Ryan must be The One! Hugh Jackman gave the pair his blessing, saying Ryan was "one of the funniest guys I've ever met...Both my wife and I are very proprietary about Scarlett, but Ryan gets a big thumbs up from me!"
Scarlett's been spotted perusing wedding boutiques in LA with her mum and sister Vanessa. Maybe she was looking for inspiration - we hear her friend Stella McCartney is going to design her dress for the big day...
