|
Slumdog Millionaire is based on best-selling novel Q and A by Vikas Swarup and was brought to the big screen by British director Danny Boyle, who made his name with Trainspotting.
Filmed with an Indian team in Mumbai, the film previously won a public vote award at the Toronto Film Festival, but was the underdog in a nominee list that included The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and Revolutionary Road. It won no less than 4 Globes: Best Film, Best Director for Danny Boyle, Best Screenplay and Best Original Score.
During a long and challenging filming process in the Indian megalopolis, Danny Boyle was moved to created a fund to help children living in Mumbai's shanty towns.
