Sally Hawkins, Golden Globe for Be Happy, Best Actress in a Comedy |
|
Kate Winslet wasn't the only British actress to win an accolade at Sunday night's awards. Bubbly Sally Hawkins (she once starred in Little Britain!) took the award for Best Actress in a Comedy for her performance as a chirpy, free-spirited schoolteacher in critically-acclaimed feelgood flick Happy Go Lucky. Hawkins had already been honoured at the Berlin Film Festival 2008.
Sally pipped runaway favourite Meryl Streep for Mamma Mia! and Frances Mcdormand for her hilarious performance in the Coen brothers' Burn After Reading.
Sally swapped her slightly wacky outfits from Happy Go Lucky for a très chic sheer black dress and up-do for the ceremony, and it suited her well.
Here at soFem HQ we love Happy Go Lucky, so if you didn't catch it when it came out back in April, it's absolutely perfect for a girls' night in with a king-sized bucket of popcorn and a bottle!
