In Western symbolism, white is for purity, peace, virginity, spirituality (it's the colour of the papacy), life, passage and transmission. White is the best colour for reflecting rays of sunlight, ie keeping you cool. For some people, white is almost like a value - much more than just a colour!   

White symbolises luxury, glory and success, but is also linked to infidelity and betrayal.
