The skinny is best known in denim, but it’s also a trouser style. Skinnies are very tight jeans which put everything on show from the waist right down to the ankles, clinging to your hips, bum, thighs and calves.   

Kate Moss, always one step ahead of the fashion brigade, was the first to start wearing them in 2005, and sure enough, they started to appear on the high street this summer.  Expect to see them everywhere this season!    

If the skinny is too tight for you, fashion experts advise starting with straight jeans, which are looser but still fit under your knee-high boots.
