First principles: when you’re playing with volume, it’s all about moderation.
If your look is OTT, you’ll end up looking as if you’re wearing a sack, so balance it out: if you’re wearing volume on your top half, go for fitted trousers or a skirt, and vice-versa. Voluminous trousers and a baggy top spell fashion disaster; baggy trousers with a short, fitted jacket look the business.
Second golden rule: choose the right style for your shape. If you have thick legs, mini bubble skirts are never going to look great on you! Draw attention to your best assets: if you want to draw attention to your chest, go for a pretty flowing blouse with puffy sleeves.
Finally, remember that volume is a great form of camouflage! Use it to your advantage, to hide skinny or heavy legs, a pre-gym stomach or bingo wings.
