Snacks

Generally, low-fat snacks, crisps and biscuits aren't really worth the healthy packaging they're wrapped in, however green and light-as-a-feather it may be! It's very difficult to make crisps, crackers and the like healthy because they are naturally very high in fat. However, certain brands and types are slightly less sinful than others: bread sticks and Quavers, for example. Whetever type you go for, make sure they contain less than 450 Kcal per 100g.

Our nutritionist says: "It's not so much the taste as the physcial pleasure of nibbling that counts as far as savoury snacks go, so lighter versions can be beneficial, though as a rule slimmers should avoid snack food like the plague. Light versions will still be high in calories, but they will reduce your intake slightly."
