Pulses

Lentils, dried beans and chickpeas are unique in that they combine carbohydrates with very dense fibres, which means they have an extremely low GI index: 31 for chickpeas and between 22 and 30 for lentils. 

They contain no fat and you can use them freely as part of your beach diet. Eat them several times a week, especially as a replacement for potatoes.
