Supplements are concentrated sources of nutrients or plants which have nutritional or physiolgical benefits. They balance your diet without bringing in extra calories.
They aren't medicines: they increase your well-being but won't cure any illness, and they aren't a substitute for a balanced diet.
Some contain minerals (calcium, iron, magnesium, copper, manganese, zinc, phosphorus), vitamins (C, B, D etc), plants or plant extracts, fatty acids, fibre and more. They should provide at least 15% of your RDA of the nutrients they contain.
Supplements are easy to take and come as pills, gel capsules, ampoules, sachets and sweets.
