We know we need sleep, but we often wonder why. 

According to research, sleep allows the body to recover from the day's activity, restore cells and consolidate memory caused by the secretion of growth hormones and the increassed rate of protein synthesis that occur when we're asleep.

What's clear is that a good night's sleep brings out the best in you during the day. There's no point in trying to get by on less than you need - it just doesn't work out.
