But for God’s sake, at least let us pretend!

In all seriousness, there’s nothing wrong with mentioning your ex here and there, provided it’s not every five minutes. 

‘I was seeing a girl who managed to crowbar her ex into more or less every conversation we had,’ says Mike, 26 from Kingston upon Thames.

‘I’m not a jealous guy, but it was ridiculous!’

It doesn’t matter how ‘over’ them you might be, if you keep going on about what so-and-so used to think/wear/say, even the most patient of chaps is going to get fed up.
