Penelope was nominated for Best Actress for her performance in Pedro Almodovar's Volver, but lost out to Helen Mirren (The Queen).

Penelope definitely made an entrance in a full-skirted Atelier Versace bustier dress, Chopard earrings and a satin and crystal Swarovski clutch. Understated it wasn't.
