In the 70s, quartz plunged the Swiss watchmaking industry into a crisis but collectors and other amateurs ended up reversing the trend. In fact, they did so to the point that this year, so-called "complex" watches are more popular than ever.

For the most part they're popular amongst men who are in search of exclusivity and technology, for whom a simple watch displaying only the hours, minutes and seconds is a bit boring. Gadget-loving men will expect nothing less than a full calendar, a power reserve indicator, a second time zone...
