The basic look: Dreamt up by Sally Brooks (hair styling expert at Nivea Hair Care), this hairstyle mixes 50s platinum blonde locks with the punk look of the 80s.

To copy it, taper your hair with a razor blade then add layering, using different lengths, to add a rock'n'roll touch.

Next, gather your hair together to make a fairly low ponytail and make a side parting. Don't forget to leave a thick section of hair loose on the top of your head.

Work all the hair to make a small French twist at the back then increase the volume (backcombing + hairspray) of the upper section of hair. Take it back to the side and leave the ends loose.
