Did you know that male and female brains are different? Females have an extra 30% neurones, dedicated to language learning and our oestrogen hormones stimulate links between the two sides of the brain, creating even more connections.
Men may ask themselves less questions and be less gifted for oral expression. Many more little boys see speech therapists than girls.
So how can we help our sons with their speech? Through mental stimulation, explains our speech expert Dr Biddulph:
- Talk to him!
- Encourage your son to express his feelings.
- Read him stories.
- Make the time to listen to him.
- Encourage him to articulate what he wants.
