Definition of the pelvic floor muscles

The pelvic floor is...
The group of muscles, ligaments and extremely solid membranes that form a floor (hence the name!) supporting the vagina, bladder and rectum.

It's diamond-shaped, attached to the pubis at the top and to the coccyx at the bottom, and to the ischiums by the two lateral points (the ischiums are the bony bits situated under the buttocks).
