Pelvic floor therapy and exercises

Around six weeks after giving birth you will have a post-natal exam when your doctor will determine whether you need pelvic floor treatment. Any treatment should be carried out by a midwife or specialist physiotherapist.

During the first few sessions, the practitioner will examine you to assess your muscles. He will then prepare a personalised exercise plan and explain in detail how to carry out the exercises. Through these sessions, you will learn to voluntarily and correctly contract your muscles.

Even if you don't need any specialist treatment, you'll be reminded about the importance of doing pelvic floor exercises regularly.
