Children and fear, night, dark

It's perfectly understandable to be afraid of the dark. Haven't you ever been scared when you've found yourself in complete darkness?

Fear of the dark occurs in children around the age of 2 and lasts for an average of 5 years.
The source of this fear can be attributed to a loss of bearings but it might also be linked to deeper-seated fears.
