Experiencing pregnancy and childbirth alone

During the pregnancy, the father of the baby saw Sally regularly but wasn't very involved.

"I gave birth on my own," Sally explains. "It's very difficult not having any support at times like that. Since the birth, a month ago, the father has come to see my baby boy a few times. He loves him, I'm the one who cares for him. I live in sync with him and I find the energy from somewhere. Of course there are times when I crack up and the tears start, but I still give 100%."

A future with the dad?
"The dad won't put his name on the birth certificate, but I'm sure one day he will want to have a full role in his son's life. He's going through a divorce at the moment. We still need time to get to know one another but I would like my son to have a dad."

In any case, despite some troubled times, Sally doesn't regret her choice: "It's better to have a child when you're in a relationship, there's no doubt about that," she says, "but being a single parent is better than not at all!"
