Sally is 42. For 7 years, she wanted to have a child with her live-in partner but he was already father to two children and didn't want any more. "He was extra careful to make sure I didn't get pregnant and I was stupid enough to stay with him for so long. Eventually I left."
Unplanned pregnancy
"I met someone on holiday and at the end of the fortnight I fell pregnant. I just wasn't expecting it. I wasn't using any contraception: given my age, I was willing to do anything to have a child. But I hadn't thought things through properly. I wasn't that pleased to have fallen pregnant so quickly by a man I barely knew. I told him straightaway that an abortion was out of the question and that he could do whatever he wanted."
