Premature babies are kept under close observation and are treated roughly every two hours. Some can be intubated or put on a ventilator to help them breathe. This
gets rid of pulmonary secretions that the baby can’t expunge on his/her own because he/she isn’t strong enough and doesn’t have the right reflexes to cough yet.

Respiratory physiotherapy can also help babies who have to have be intubated.
