Make your place or venue look fit for a party!
Organisation
- Store away or push back any furniture that could get in the way.
- However, make sure you keep the sofa, chairs and anything your guests can sit on when they get tired.
- Roll up rugs (think red wine).
- Put any breakables in a safe place.
- Make sure your guests can get to the bathroom, the buffet and the dancefloor easily, and make sure the buffet and the dancefloor aren't too close together so you don't end up with vol-au-vents flying all over the place.
- Either put ashtrays out or designate a smoking area.
- Make sure your kitchen and your bathroom are tidy - guests tend to gather there in quiet corners to chat!
- If you want your guests to stay out of certain rooms, either lock the door, put a piece of furniture in front of the door or a note on it!
Decoration
- Go for low lighting.
- Put some fresh flowers out. It's a quick and easy way of brightening up a room instantly.
- Candles add atmosphere, but make sure you're careful with them, especially if there are lots of people around!
- Don't overdo the party tricks such as balloons or party poppers unless you want your 'do to resemble a kid's birthday party.
- Colour co-ordinate little things such as flowers, serviettes and tablecloths.
