It's not always easy for first-time users to navigate Second Life and to figure out how it all works, but if you're patient, after a couple of tries you'll soon get the hang of it without too much trouble!
1. Sign up on www.secondlife.com. Create your avatar, with a name and whatever appearance you want. It's free to join (skip the pages that ask for your card details). Enter your email address to receive a confirmation email that will activate your account.
2. Once your account has been activated, you'll be told to download the software onto your computer. This only takes a few minutes.
3. Now you can explore the world of Second Life! Just enter your name and secret code to log in. You can move around using the little arrows on your screen or using your keyboard.
4. Find somewhere you want to go to by clicking on the map or searching. Everyone's a bit lost at first and unsure what to do, but you soon pick it up.
