The first thing we think about is, of course, getting out in the sun. It's great for your mind: not for the tanning effects of UV rays on your skin, but for the positive effects of light on your brain. If you get regular exposure to sunlight, you reduce your levels of melatonin, the sleep hormone, and you stay energised. Turn towards the sun while you're on your lounger, sprawl on a towel, or just sit in the middle of a field of flowers and soak up that feeling of well-being. Just don't forget your suncream...
Walking barefoot in the garden is a good way of making contact with the elements.
Go for long walks (with your shoes on, perhaps). Make the most of whatever the weather brings: go for a ramble after a storm, watch for rainbows and snails, and breathe the scent of earth that follows heavy rain. Get closer to the natural world and its ecosystems and you'll see the wonders of nature in all their glory. Seeing nature reminds us we're alive and helps us forget about our worries and the daily grind.
