Women's relationships with men, father's influence

Women's relationships with men, father's influence

It's said that a woman looks for her father in the relationships she has with men. That's not entirely true. But the relationship she has with her father will impact upon her relationships with men.

A young girl who's respected by her father, encouraged to love herself and be independent, will probably experience meaningful, lasting relationships. However, if she's been treated like a little princess, never refused anything, and if her father convinced her that no man would ever live up to his standards, she's at risk of going from one disappointment to another, in search of that non-existent Prince Charming.
On the other hand, an absence of support or lack of a father figure doesn't make things easy either. This can make women seek male attention and approval madly and often ends in multiple failed relationships. On top of this, such women will fear commitment and abandonment.
A study carried out in 2007 seems to confirm this theory: 41% of people whose father wasn't around or was often absent were not in a serious relationship through fear of being abandoned.
