Some people use their blogs to express themselves freely on anything and anything.
Let it all out
Get rid of all your angst online: whether you need to rant about your rat of a boss, your ex who snook off with his secretary, your miserly banker or the taxi driver who ripped you off on the way home last night, it's good to let is all out (as long as you don't name names and get sued for defamation of character, that is!).
Get exclusive scoops
Some people use their blog to reveal exclusive information on the sly, under the anonymity of a pseudonym. Recently an American journalist was censured by the Los Angeles Times when he tried to offer Prince's new album Planet Earth free to readers (as the Daily Mail did in the UK). LA being LA, the record label wouldn't allow it, but the journo made sure he had the last word by releasing the offer on his blog!
Maintain an open, healthy relationship between you and your boss
Many companies have created internal blogs which are less institutional than company websites or forums and allow workers to leave comments relatively freely and get information in real time, such as the latest sales figures, changes in computer code, a payrise for the entire department(!), etc etc. Managers also use company blogs to help staff bond, to post photos of teambuilding events or to introduce new employees by putting their CV and information online.
