What is stress?
Stress is the body's reaction to a situation that requires us to adapt. It causes adapted physical, mental and behavioural reactions. Stress is a biological, psychological and social concept, becuase all three of these factors influence our relationship with our environment. Stress makes us adapt to changes in order to function more effectively, but if it isn't handled properly it can be destructive.
Why are some people more susceptible to stress than others?
Stress is a subjective response. Each person reacts differently according to their needs and the contraints they impose upon themselves: their environment, their relationships with others, the pressure they put on themselves and their time management. This is why someone suffering from stress should start by observing the way they react, identify the causes of their stress and the stress factors involved.
