Marking the occassion: a necessary rite
Some women burn their ex's things, others take off on a round-the-world trip, and some just treat themselves to a new hairdo. We all have different rites we have to go through at stages in our lives, so why should divorce be any different?
"We need to mark milestones to say it to ourselves and other people: "my marriage is over." However a divorce party can turn ambiguous if there's a feeling of relief in the air," says our expert. "It should be a way of saying to your loved ones that the relationship is over for good."

A party always gives you a boost
There's nothing like a party to celebrate a new beginning in life, to help initiate change and to arm yourself with the energy to get out there and live again. You get to be the star for one night: you've been through a painful experience and come out fighting, and everyone is there to salute you. It can't be bad for the ego!
