The basics: All about the love lives of four now-legendary New Yorkers. Journalist Carrie Bradshaw, takes inspiration for her work from her lives and the lives of her friends. Charlotte is the romantic type, always dreaming of meeting The One, while Samantha is a man-eater and swears by no-strings sex. Lawyer Miranda is a cynic and guards her independence fiercely.

Why we love it: Sex and the City was the first series to feature young single women who actually talk about sex! There's no subject too taboo and it’s hilariously funny – marriage, kids, sex toys, even STDs, the girls share everything! The SATC ladies are all totally different and see their love lives very differently, so there’s always someone you can identify with. And, of course, we’re in love with SJP’s wardrobe – SATC turned her into a fashion icon.
Watch it with: Definitely one for the girls. However, your male friends and your partner might also find a bit of female psychology interesting - and they might even learn a thing or two!
