The basics: Jack Malone and his team of detectives at FBI headquarters in New York are in charge of tracing missing persons. They have to trace the last known movements of people who have literally disappeared into thin air to try and find out what happened to them. Every little clue and scrap of information has to be gone through with a tooth-comb in a race against time to find the person alive…

Main characters: Anthony LaPaglia (Jack Malone), Poppy Montgomery (Samantha Spade), Enrique Murciano (Danny Taylor), Eric Close  (Martin Fitzgerald), Marianne Jean-Baptiste (Vivian Johnson), Roselyn Sanchez (Elena Delgado)

Why we love it: It really engages you and gets you thinking the same things as Jack Malone and his team: trying to work out what happened to the missing person as clues start to appear. The psychology of the detectives is a really important part of the series and can have serious repercussions on a case, but the action itself focuses on the missing persons and not the private lives of the detectives.

Why we love it: Amateur TV detectives are in their element. No supernatural events or special effects, just good old-fashioned intrigue.
