Fear of attachment?

We associate objects with places, people and our past. Throwaways can happily leave the past behind them and don't need material things to remind them of times gone by.

This could reveal a subconscious fear of attachment. Perhaps you think that if you throw things out, you're in no danger of getting attached to them, to the memories or the people they evoke, and getting hurt.
