The only way to really protect yourself from Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) and Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs), is to use a condom. However, if you have had unprotected sex, make sure you are tested for STDs and AIDS before sleeping with anyone else. Go to your local GUM clinic (Genito-Urinary Medicine clinc at your local hospital), or contact a Family Planning Centre for more information. Avoid oral sex if you have oral or genital herpes (coldsores), as they are are highly contagious.
