Penile implant

This operation is aimed at men who suffer from severe erection problems which nothing else (medication, jabs, constriction rings) can solve.

What's involved?
Under general anaesthetic, the surgeon places two stalk-shaped implants into the penis, one in each corpus cavernosum. The implants are filled with a liquid and connected to a reservoir. A device situated in the scrotum allows the implants to be inflated, filling them with liquid from the reservoir and causing an erection. At the appropriate moment, they can then be deflated.

Results
Men with penile implants are generally satisfied with them. After repeated failures, it's the only solution for them. However, the implants can sometimes be rejected because they are foreign bodies.
Note that the implant provides an erection for the penis but not for the glans, which can seem limper than it would be naturally. However, it does allow men who suffer from impotence to experience sexual pleasure and orgasms.
