Periods have always been looked upon as dirty and impure - especially because of all those sanitary ads that show menstrual blood as a clear blue liquid! Even the word is still something of a taboo: many women say "It's the time of the month" or "I've got...you know..."
Fear of repulsion
Some couples think having sex during a woman's menstrual cycle is totally out of the question. Blood is a symbol of death and pain, and it can spark fear and disgust in some people. Some even think that it's not physically possible to have sex during your period, which is completely untrue. Actually, it's often a particularly good tome for sex because a woman's sex drive is high during the week of her period. You need to overcome your fears and accept that menstrual blood isn't dirty: when it comes out of the uterus it's completely clean and sterile and does a perfectly good job as a lubricant!
The same goes for sperm. It doesn't contain germs (unless he has an STD), yet some women are repulsed by the thought of swallowing sperm because of the taste or because you know it comes from the same place as urine! But sperm doesn't contain urine: the fluid from his Cowper's gland cleans the urethra before sperm passes through it, so you've nothing to fear!
