Advice for communicating in a relationship

- PIck the right moment to talk to him: avoid meaningful conversations when he's just got in from work or you know you're going to be interrupted.

- Make communication ritual: during dinner, a shared bath, weekend walks, etc.

- Explain clearly what you expect and what you want.

- Stay focused on the subject of the discussion.

- Suggest solutions rather than throw accusations at him.

- Don't raise your voice, insult him or be aggressive.

- Don't try to compare your situation to other couples: you don't know what goes on behind closed doors, and comparing him to others will only irritate him a lot.

- Know when to end a discussion, but don't end it without reaching some sort of agreement.

- Remind him of his commitments when he forgets about them.
