Forgiving an unfaithful partner: our expert's view

 - Forgiving an unfaithful partner: our expert's view
Our psychotherapist's view

Sometimes when a partner is unfaithful the relationship just can't recover and break-up is inevitable, but this wasn't the case for Laura and Seb. Laura reacted in a very mature way, which says a lot about her personality and her relationship. She and Seb have a deep, solid relationship, and she was big enough to see through her anger and work out why Seb cheated on her.

Despite her understanding, Laura admits that Seb's betrayal hurt her, and she shouldn't keep these feelings to herself. Just because she understands why it happened doesn't mean she should repress what she's feeling, otherwise she could end up nourishing resentment. This would lead to major problems for them. Even if Laura and Seb are as solid as they seem, it's vital that they talk to each other about how they feel.
