Our psychotherapist's view
Lucy-Anna's reaction is normal in a way, but her approach is flawed. Doubting herself and not simply blaming Joe for his betrayal is mature in a way and shows understanding, but the problem is that instead of seeing that Joe was wrong, Lucy-Anna thinks she's the one who led him to cheat on her. Why is she putting herself in a position of inferiority when he's the one in the wrong, not her?
The imbalance in Lucy-Anna and Joe's relationship is very harmful, not only for their future but for Lucy-Anna and her self esteem. She needs to ring in big changes in her relationship fast!
