Cocktails of vitamins, minerals, invigorating plant extracts and trace elements: the time-honoured but best way of getting through winter without feeling knackered and succumbing to colds all the time...but did you know they could help your libido?

Your doctor can advise you on which to take according to your needs. If they work for you, why not use them to boost your sex drive? They aren't traditional aphrodisiacs, (such as oysters, strawberries etc), and they're not always suitable, especially once you get to a certain age, so always check with your doctor. We haven't found the perfect love potion and we probably never will, but you can always give it a go! 

Phytotherapists may recommend the following plants to help boost your libido: 

-Vitex regulates the production of female hormones and is used to relieve problems with your periods (irregular or stopped periods, swollen, painful breasts, migraines, acne). It can also stimulate your libido.
-Borage seed oil contains fatty acids which have a similar effect to Vitamin F, essential for a healthy metabolism. It's known as a vitamin for the nerves, but it can also boost your sex drive by improving the circulation of the blood, making your veins more elastic. -Ginseng is a root that has been used in the Far East for thousands of years. It's been 'rediscovered' by modern science for it's revitalising qualities for general well-being, and it can also boost your sex drive. 

NB Before buying any herbal medicines, check with your doctor that they are suitable for you. If you are taking any sort of medication they could interfere with your treatment. Some plants can have harmful side-effects.
