#YouLookDisgusting This Vlogger Has A Powerful Message About Beauty Ideals

Three months ago beauty vlogger, Em Ford, decided to do something a little different on her social media. She started posting makeup free selfies in a bid to empower women to feel beautiful barefaced. 100,000 comments later and here she is facing up to society's unrealistic beauty standards in the most inspiring way. Tissues at the ready.

After watching this video you suddenly become aware of how crazy fixated we are with makeup, beauty and the pursuit of perfection.

Can't we be beautiful without contouring the life out of our cheeks for once? And can we not be free of judgement if we dare to go out in pubic or, worse still, post a selfie without a scratch of makeup on?

You'd think that would be the case but sadly, as this film proves, the loudest voices in society say no.

The video shows beauty vlogger, Em Ford from My Pale Skin, barefaced (and beautiful may we add) alongside some of the real comments internet bullies left on those images. Some of the harshest include, 'I can't even look at her' and 'you look disgusting' . We know, it's appalling.

As she begins to apply makeup the inevitable happens, 'You look beautiful', 'You're so perfect', a word that resonates throughout the video.

But even then, society has a problem with that and the makeup shaming begins. Apparently us women can't win even among each other.

Em explains, "I wanted to create a film that showed how social media can set unrealistic expectations on both women and men. One challenge many face today, is that as a society, we’re so used to seeing false images of perfection, and comparing ourselves to unrealistic beauty standards that it can be hard to remember the most important thing – You ARE beautiful."

Whether you wear a lot of makeup, have acne scars or dark circles, there's one thing we can all learn from Em and that's to be confident with whatever skin we're in.
