We thought throwaway culture was becoming a thing of the past, but a new survey by Bobbi Brown reveals that over 94 million make-up products are thrown away every year because women are dissatisfied with them.
While we're most likely to part with our money for good quality foundation (according to 36% of interviewees), finding the right face base is a very costly exercise! The average British woman tries seven different products and spends £125 before finding the right foundation. All the more reason to get it right first time...
Bobbi Brown advises that "one of the most common errors women make when choosing a foundation is that they try to add colour to their skin - foundation is only there to even out skin tone not to add colour. Always begin with a test to choose the colour to your natural skin tone, swatch a few shades on the side of the face and the correct one will disappear. Many women think foundation is all about heavy, mask-like makeup, but it's not. The right product should look like you're not wearing any foundation at all - but that you just have great looking skin."
