Birth: The Midwife's RoleBirth: The Midwife's Role
The midwife plays a key role in a mum-to-be's life, right up until the big day. Despite the fact that they provide care throughout the pregnancy and into motherhood, their patients are all too often unaware of exactly what kind of support they can expect. What is a midwife for? Can they carry out ultrasound scans? Will they help you to breastfeed? Midwives answer our questions and talk about the crisis facing their profession.
Thanks to all the midwives who took part in our investigation and information from the Royal College of Midwives and their Campaign for Normal Birth.
