Shortly after performing in Paris with his group The Police, Sting arrives at the Dior show with his wife. Seeing him there, you'd think there was something about to happen. Suddenly, the lights are dimmed and the sounds of his hit 'Englishman in New York' fill the room: the audience is won over. In a masculine-feminine style with immeasurable chic, the models arrive in black and white trousers or dresses into the kitsch, packed out marquee. The girls are in pinstripes, occasionally with golden touches, big berets, black trousers and men's waistcoats worn next to the skin. Masculine accessories such as bowler hats, beaver hats or black braces are feminised by the latest calf-leather bags. The collection then focuses on evening dresses in pistachio, jade or mauve. Mostly sleeveless and in silk or lace tulle, they display a rectangular shape or are sometimes flared at the bottom. Zebra stripes and leopard print are sensational on fine dresses and light trench coats, while lively red and chocolate tones add rhythm to the mauve and jade colours of the collection.
