Valentino chose 'Global' as a title for this season's collection, and presented us with his idea of global chic. In thirty-seven outfits, fashionistas were taken on a world tour of elegance, from Rome to Hollywood, via haute couture capital Paris, of course. Shown at the Musée des Beaux Arts, models walked out to a backdrop of scenes of stylish cities from around the world, beloved of the designer's jet-set clients. Valentino is known for high-volume glamour on the show circuit each season, and he didn't disappoint with classic outfits cut to flatter for working girls looking to blow their wages. Cocktail shapes popped up again for evening, with plenty of shimmer and sparkle and some beautifully dyed fairy-wing chiffons. Whether red and orange, pink and yellow or black and white, wisps of muslin and lace were adorned with flowers, beads and jade. As always, the Valentino show was the last word in luxury and traditional cutting, for a clientel who know exactly what they want.
